Golfers go Orange in the cold
One of the last events for the OrangeAid ’05 Appeal took place on Tuesday 5th July at Stapleford Abbotts on the Abbotts Course. Twenty Golfers, some in the loosest sense, tackled the wind, rain, clod, sun, warmth etc. to raise money for the OrangeAid ’05 appeal. The ages of the golfers ranged from 14 to significantly over 70 and they played a better ball Stableford competition.
The winners were the youngest pair Billy Sherrin (14) and Tod Franklin (16) both grandsons of Essex Masons, the pair coming second were the Brothers King, George and John.
Over £250 was raised over the course, including a closest the pin competition on the two short par 3s, and £100 raised from a raffle during dinner at the 19th hole. A great day was had by all and all thanks must go to W. Bro George Hodges for organising the day.
